Day 5 – At Sea

While we cruise to our next destination, we have the day at sea. There is no shortage of things to do aboard the luxurious Queen May 2. This remarkable flagship, and her style and elegance are legendary. Above all, it‘s the space she offers and the luxury for you to do as little or as much as you wish which set her apart.

“Welcome to a true icon. Our flagship is a truly astonishing liner and you’ll find an incredible sense of freedom in the space she offers. Whether you’re in the mood for complete relaxation or something more active, you can find it. Immerse yourself in enthralling entertainment, be indulged in the on board spa, or simply relax with a book in her vast library. You’ll discover remarkable craftsmanship in the elegant staterooms and suites and savoring her many sumptuous restaurants and bars is always a pleasure.”

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 6 – Alesund, Norway

Sailing through Norway’s glass-like waters on route to Alesund, you’ll be struck by a sweeping peninsula of Art Nouveau architecture, stretching to lush greenery, where mountain peaks reach skyward, reflected in the converging fjords.

Arriving in Alesund, you could be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped off your ship into the pages of a fairy-tale. A myriad of towering spires and decorative turrets, it’s easy to see why this vibrant fishing port is regarded as one of the prettiest cities in Norway.

A town that rose from the ashes after almost being destroyed in its entirety by a fire in 1904, Alesund now expands across seven small islands, seamlessly connected via an elaborate network of underwater tunnels.

Welcoming locals, delicious fresh cuisine, enchanting architecture, and breathtaking scenery, are just some of the highlights to look forward to if your Norwegian adventure includes a call in Alesund.

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 7 – Andalsnes & Romsdalsfjord, Norway

Not far from the idyllic Andalsnes, you’ll locate a unique curiosity: the “Troll Wall,” which features immense grassy cliffs forming Europe’s highest vertical mountain face. An amazing natural wonder.

A steady climb of the “Troll Ladder” entails a zigzagging road of hairpin bends on the steep mountainside, revealing spectacular valley views as you near the thundering Stigfossen Waterfall.

In Romsdalsfjord, explore a region of deep blue fjords, rolling emerald hills, crashing waterfalls and jagged, snow-capped mountains, which are interspersed with charming villages Vikings once ruled.

Sailing the fjords is a memorable maritime experience. Formed during the Ice Age when the glaciers retreated, deep valleys and narrow inlets were flooded with seawater to create these natural wonders.

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 8 - Olden, Innvikfjorden, & Nordfjord

When you reluctantly depart from this peaceful village of the picturesque Nordfjord, you’ll no doubt have some breathtaking and unforgettable scenes etched into your memory, and your camera roll too.

Giant waterfalls cascade the mountains, mineral-rich Lake Lovatn glints with a milky turquoise sheen and the Kjenndalen Glacier reveals a green-tinged glow.

A sense of wonderment awaits as you sail Innvikfjorden, just one highlight of Norway’s beautiful network of fjords. The villages and farmsteads along its coastline really put things into perspective.

Enjoy the placid waters, the sheer scale of the stunning scenery and features created by nature’s power over the millennia, and appreciate humans’ wish to live among its beauty and resources.

Sailing offers by far the best way to appreciate the scale and majesty of this ancient region, where the palette of blues, grays, and greens are occasionally punctuated by an ambitious hiker or a wild pony grazing at the fjord’s edge. Certain branches of the Nordfjord even resemble a tropical paradise, with near-transparent waters fringing beaches composed entirely of pure white sand.

Whether you choose to admire these passing views while strolling your ship’s deck or tucked under a blanket in the privacy of your stateroom’s balcony, your sail-by of the Nordfjord is guaranteed to deliver some of the most memorable scenery you’ll experience on your Norway cruise.

A journey that delivers no end of outstanding views, a cruise-by of Nordfjord is your chance to immerse yourself in the mesmerizing natural scenery that’s a signature of sailing Norway’s fjords.

In this respect, your cruise-by of Nordfjord will not disappoint. Norway’s sixth largest fjord is home to Europe’s biggest mainland glacier, as well as the continent’s deepest lake.

These accolades, while impressive, are just the pinnacle of what makes sailing in this part of Norway so special. Nordfjord has been shaped by the elements over centuries, and the result is a rugged yet beautiful landscape that has remained unspoiled throughout the passage of time.

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 9 - Bergen, Norway

Your fascinating “Gateway to the Fjords” is Norway’s second-largest city, Bergen. Its maritime trade and oil industry remain vital to the economy and it’s a thriving epicenter of culture and history.

Visit the old quays of Bryggen, a World Heritage Site, and the medieval wooden houses of the city’s waterfront. You can even take a peek inside the workshops of local painters, weavers and craftsmen.

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 10 - At Sea

With another day at sea on our beautiful Norwegian journey, we find ourselves in the perfect rhythm of relaxation and exploration. The gentle roll of the sea beneath us lulls us into a tranquil state, while our vessel becomes a floating oasis of comfort and luxury. Whether we choose to lounge on the sun deck with a book in hand, indulge in sumptuous cuisine, or engage in onboard activities and entertainment, there’s an air of contentment as we soak in the scenic vistas that surround us.

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 11 - Hamburg, Germany - Disembark & Home

As we disembark once again in Hamburg, Germany, we carry with us cherished memories of our unforgettable Norwegian adventure. The rugged beauty of the fjords and the warm hospitality of the Norwegian people.

Meals included: (B)

ITINERARY

For your reference, we send to you a detailed itinerary approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the scheduled tour departure. This has day-by-day times and events, hotel information where you can be reached in case of an emergency, and airline information.

The times listed on the itinerary are all approximate. We cannot be held responsible for schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances with the weather, transportation agents, highway conditions, hotels or contracting agents.

AIRLINE TICKETS

You will be issued your boarding pass the morning of our departure, after your arrival at the Tucson International Airport. If you have a frequent flyer number, or a TSA number, please call our office at least 3 days prior to the tour to ensure we can note these in your reservation. If you are joining the tour from locations other than Tucson, we make other arrangements for you to join the tour. Please call our office for more details.

AIRPORT SECURITY

Do not forget to bring your government issued picture ID to show at the airport. A passport is required for travel to Europe. If you do not have the proper ID, the airline will turn you away.

BAGGAGE

We have arranged for handling for one piece of luggage per person regarding the skycaps (where available) and hotels. If you check through luggage note that the maximum weight for the checked piece of luggage is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height). If your bag weighs over 50 pounds the airlines will levy an extra fee that you will be responsible to pay. If you feel the need to lock your checked through luggage and your bag is searched, your lock could be damaged in the process. You can purchase a TSA (Transportation Security Administration) accepted and recognized lock at any luggage store. Make sure you ask for a TSA approved lock. These locks are the kind that TSA screeners can open by using a special tool without breaking. Passengers can carry-on 1 bag (dimensions are limited to 10x16x24 inches), plus a personal type bag, like a purse. We advise that you pack your carry-on lightly. There are restrictions regarding your carryon baggage and contents due to enhanced security measures. If you have further concerns, please visit the TSA's Web-site at www.tsa.gov. There is room inside the motorcoach for your hand carried bag.

CHECKED BAGGAGE FEES

On our preferred airline for this tour, passengers are assessed a fee per checked in bag, by the Airlines, upon checking in for the flight.

EMERGENCY CONTACT

It is always a good idea to carry on your person a list of medications that you are taking and an emergency contact phone number while you are traveling. And we suggest making a copy of the itinerary and provide it to a friend or family member.

GRATUITIES/ITEMS INCLUDED IN PRICE

The traditional end-of-tour gratuity is included on this tour. All hotel porterage and airport skycap (when available) fees are included. We also include the gratuities for the coach/livery drivers. Hotel housekeeping tips are not included. Tips for guides/services on optional excursions or individual on-ship services are not included.

LIVERY

For your convenience, we have a (round-tour) door-to-door pickup service with each multi-day tour. (This service is not available to all clients depending on your location.) Approximately 2 to 3 days prior to the departure date you will receive a call from our office and we will tell you your assigned pickup time. (These times can vary up to 15 minutes depending on traffic.)

LODGING REQUESTS

If you would like to request special accommodations at the hotel(s) where we are lodging, please call us as soon as possible and we will forward these requests for you. The phone numbers of the hotel(s) where we are staying are listed on the itinerary.

Many hotels around the country have instituted a "reconditioning fee" of $300 or more that is levied upon a guest that smokes in a non-smoking room. If this occurs during our tour you will be responsible for paying this fee to the hotel prior to check-out.

TRAVEL REQUESTS

We pay close attention to your requests but please realize that these are merely requests and cannot be guaranteed.

WEATHER AND CLOTHING/MISC. SUGGESTIONS

The weather in Norway in August can vary depending on the region you are in, as Norway has a long and diverse coastline and a wide range of climates. Generally, August is considered summer in Norway, and you can expect relatively mild and pleasant weather. Here's a general overview of what you might expect:

Southern Norway (Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger):
Temperature: In August, daytime temperatures in southern Norway can range from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F).
Precipitation: Rainfall is relatively evenly distributed throughout the month, so you can expect occasional showers.

Central Norway (Trondheim):
Temperature: Daytime temperatures in central Norway can be similar to those in the south, ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F).
Precipitation: Like southern Norway, central Norway also experiences occasional rain showers in August.

Temperature: Similar to the southern and central regions, daytime temperatures can vary from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F).
Precipitation: Expect some rain, but it's generally less wet compared to the western coastal areas.
It's important to note that Norway's weather can be quite changeable, so it's a good idea to check a reliable weather forecast closer to your travel date for more accurate and up-to-date information. Additionally, Norway's northernmost regions may experience the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) in August, making it a great time for northern lights enthusiasts to visit.
